The Wrestling Archivist is going for a chance of pace here with some action from Japan! Here we have a handheld match (shot on camcorder from the audience) of 2 workers that should be familiar to viewers of this channel, the brothers Della Serra, Rocky & Bob. The Della Serras made a couple shots for the Japanese UWF promotion which emphasized shoot-style wrestling and more native talent than flashier styles and gaijins. In its first year, UWF Japan was still finding its groove, so they brought in a lot of North American workers that one wouldn't associate with the UWF style (e.g., Dutch Mantel, Scott Casey, Bob Sweetan, Mark Lewin, Richard Charland, the Della Serras, Frenchy Martin, Leo Burke, Phil LaFon, Sweet Daddy Siki, the original Cuban Assassin, Stephen Petitpas) to work with the likes of Akira Maeda, Rusher Kimura, Ryuma Go, Nobuhiko Takada, and Yoshiaki Fujiwara. Bob Della Serra was no stranger to Japan, having wrestled 3 tours for the IWE promotion in 1976, 1978, and 1979. This was Rocky's first (and only) tour of Japan. Here we have the Della Serras (Bob using the U.F.O. name and gimmick) wrestling Ryuma Go & Rusher Kimura at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
